Oh, and if you were one of the subscribers of Tabula Rasa (till the end, doesn't count if you have ended the subscription even a week before the news), you get the beta key to both CB and OB.

Yeah, I know I was late to the party><
I tried the BTU.com thing but time zones got the better of me,
Wish I had seen your post,
but yeah, that was more of moving a crowd from one game (TR) to another (Aoin). Wasn't open to Linage, CoH/CoV gw etc.
Which on reflection makes sense as the other two have monthly fees...so they would be competing with each other...so nvm that point.
Morale: don't be late for the party...

@thoth_au
LIke others correctly pointed out, Aion is more like Lineage 2.
I'd call it an extremely polished Lineage 2.
Yes, I believe Aion stood in the way of Guild Wars 2.
It would not be a good marketing practice on behalf of NCsoft to launch (even in beta stages) a "no monthly fees" fantasy MMO along side with Aion, same genre "with monthly fees".
Of course I could also be totally wrong and GW2 is really in very early stages of development.
Whatever the case, I will still enjoy GW for as long as I can
@Solas
I very much doubt that the people that played Tabula Rasa will ever play Aion as "replacement".
They are completely different games.

If you want to pay for the game fully upfront, you can do this on the NCsoft website, Steam(which has it for a very low price), and there are a couple of other websites.
Note: Steam and NCsoft do Digital Downloads. You will not get the box, which doesn't matter anyways since the boxed Collector's Edition is sold out world wide... I have two copy's lol.
There is a plus to the digital copies: You get 37 days free time instead of 30.
Otherwise to get beta keys, it is easy. There are some websites that give them away for each beta .. but if you like the game from the videos just pre-order it from Steam 60 bucks for Collector's Edition. 40 for reg.. and you get all betas closed and open and 42 hour head start

Nope, AION uses the CryEngine; Guild Wars nowhere near clears anything close to the CryEngine. I mean for god's sake, Guild Wars doesn't even have physics.

Yes true, but GW2 will have a Z-axis (and therefore will have realistic physics laws in place?).
Aion and GW2 have different development teams but surely they will use very similar (if not the same) design tools...and hopefully the same game engine? Which would be most welcoming looking at the game play videos on the Aion site.

Aion is developed by NcSoft.
Guild Wars is developed by ArenaNet....what makes you say they will use same tools?
For Guild wars NcSoft is a publisher if my memory serves me right. Well the fact they own it to but it doesnt mean they will use identical tools.. Maybe funds are shared but technolgy not so much.

The Aion and GW development teams are entirely separate. Aion is developed in Korea and GW is developed in the US.

Do you mean that there's no relation between the two projects, in the sense of source code, network infrastructure or design tips being shared?
(if so, this would mean that it's just a coincidence that the two games run superbly on modest computers or have many design commonalities)

I think they run well on many computers due to NCSoft turning down what could be the conspiracy of Graphic Card companies bribing game developers to make their games to be high-specs when they shouldn't have to be ^

+ guild wars 1 is compatible with older machines before NcSoft acquirement of ArenaNet.. Development of Guild Wars was meant for low-mid end PCs so the theory of using same code for this purpose is just a gues on the posters part. If anything NcSoft learned from Anet about the procedure but i doubt any exact sharing accoured.

you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. Aion resembles more of an anime/manga look mixed in with WoW qualities. PvP is more of a focus in this game than WoW, so all you GW lovers, I think you guys will like Aion. Currently lvl 18 chanter (kinda like a Monk/War)

Well, they are separate, but there is some similarities to their art style. Most noticeably, actually having fairly true to life character models instead of the highly stylized (like Star Wars: The Old Republic) or cartoonish (WoW) or gritty (Warhammer) character designs you see elsewhere.

Speaking of both Aion and GW2, I discovered another voice actor who is actually used in both games. Check this out:
http://www.sobolov.com/
Unfortunately, he seems sworn to secrecy on what he did in GW2.
He has an awesome evil voice though.

all MMO's are going to look the same if its all woodland etc but this seems to be my stopgap till GW2 is out...i had a go of beta but my pc couldnt hack it lol

Biggest difference between Aion and GW is that Aion installs a rootkit on your PC called GameGuard. If you thought Starforce was bad, wait till you see it.
I cancelled my Pre-Order after GameGuard crashed my invoicing software on my company's PCs today. Major "Oh Crap" moment there.
